When it came to making the first poster for the game, I first looked at what had already been created at the time and thought what would look good on a poster. I personally thought that the look of the player and villain characters looked good as well as the ship. From this I then planned out the following for the first poster.

So firstly, from the planned poster above I thought make the most complex thing first which was the ship. So, I got the textured picture of the ship from Owen and started to draw the outline of the ship. Once that was done, I coloured it in using the colours from the original picture which resulted in the following pictures.

Then I created the A4 poster layout ready to start adding to it. Firstly, I made the background black so I could see how the poster would look before I added the stars in at the end. I then add the PEGI rating the company logo and the game title to the poster which I had to do some editing to as they came with white backgrounds which I either had to reduce or get rid of so it looked nice on the poster ending up with the following result.

I then added and positioned the ship onto the poster ending up with the following result.

I then started to make the three different planets that would be were the ship came from for each I made a separate folder for each to design the three planets separately. To make the planets I made the circle one colour then smudged in a darker version of the colour to make it look like it has an atmosphere, next I added in some shadow in to make it look more cool I also added outer glows to the planets and then added in rings in for the planets by reducing the opacity of the rings to make them see through which resulted in the following images.

Next I added in a light trail by drawing the light trail towards the planet and added an outer glow to the trail to make it look like a proper trail.

by following this I ended up with the following results.

At this point I showed the rest of my group and Owen wanted to make a few changes to the ship to make it look better, so I gave him the ship Photoshop file to edit and came back with the following results.

I then added the redone ship which resulted in the final picture designs.
