Robot Enemy Initial Ideas and Concept Art

The initial idea the group proposed to me was for the enemy to look similar to an old-fashioned styled robot like the images in the moodboard below.
I liked certain parts of the look and style such as the box shaped head and the claw hands, but I knew I could make it better. I began searching for inspiration and different styles/features to implement into the character as in the initial development stages it felt more like a robot than an evil enemy robot. I got all my ideas together and presented them to the group, the main objectives I wanted this enemy robot character to fulfil was to look evil and intimidating whilst still keeping parts of the original idea, I thought the best way to do this was to make the shoulders, arms and claws bigger than the rest of the body. I also thought the front of the head containing a visor screen would allow the enemy character to display messages or emoticons on the screen to signal the player. For example, whilst in patrolling mode it could have a green happy or yellow neutral face and then when the player is in danger or the enemy is going into attack mode the face could turn angry and change to red.
